Here's a picture of the Yadkin River and Pilot Mtn. Some great catfishing water. This is pretty close to right behind the house. Just a short trip through the woods.
11/26/2005 This is GM2 (Gunnersmate 2nd Class) Dale Arrington with a nice buck that he got on our property. Dale was on a week leave from the USS Mahan stationed in Norfolk, Va. Dale, Jack, and Dale's step father, Larry Hiatt, spent a day deer hunting over the Thaksgiving holiday. Dale is the son of Kathy and Larry Hiatt of Mt. Airy NC. Thanks Dale, and all our service men and women, for protecting us here and abroad!!!
11/19/2005 This is Kristen Barber Saunders with a really nice 8 point buck she got this past week. The buck has a 17 1/2 inch spread. Let me tell ya this isn't the only buck this gal has bagged this season either. She is the daughter of Pete and Tina Barber of Boonville, NC and sorry boys, she already married....
11/26/2005 WaHoo... Jack got a nice buck too the same day Dale did. This buck was in our apple orchard and was shot with Bertha, Jack's .243 Remington.
08/12/05 - 08/13/05 This is Jack and his friend, Tim Simpson, getting ready to clean some nice flathead catfish caught out of the Yadkin River. They ranged from just over 7 lbs. to over 20 lbs. In the last week or so Jack, Tim Simpson, and Larry Hyatt have pulled out over 30 catfish. After cleaning them, Jack will give away some to his friends that may not be able to fish but love fresh cats. What ever's left over we save for the winter. Sorry about the quality of the photos ... Don't know what's wrong with the camera..... maybe the operator....jmd
08/13/2005 This is Tim Simpson with the 20 + pounder. I am not sure who really caught this one.......Tim has been Jacks hunting & fishing buddy for more than 20 years. Tim doesn't have coondogs but we won't hold that against him... well, not much anyway. The Jack Russell's name is Buddy....
05/2005 This is me earlier this year. Hey don't laugh... I'm not supposed to look gorgeous while fishing on the river! This is a nice smallmouth bass. Notice the ultralight tackle. He put up a great fight!
05/2005 This is Jack with his smallie. Jack has been fishing the Yadkin River for more years than he cares to count. He does a great job navigating the river especially at night where shallow water and large hidden rocks can be dangerous. This is the time when the big cats are out. He and his friends have brought in some nice flatheads. I prefer blues and channels. (His fish is smaller isn't it?!)
August 27, 2005 Jack and I are on the River again. As you can tell by the big smile the Smallies were biting. Jack and I are so lucky we both love hunting and fishing. It's something we really enjoy doing together when we can. We are fortunate the River is so close we can take advantage of it on a regular basis. The Yadkin River, for us, is a way of life.
August 27, 2005 I'm really gonna have to quit this or he's gonna quit taking me.....
This is Jack with one of his local spring gobblers. We had him the following Thanksgiving. It brings a extra special meaning to the word "Thanks-giving".
Here is another gobbler Jack provided for us. Ever since the spring gobbler season opened here in Yadkin County Jacks hunting has been fruitful.
This is our friend Mr. Bill Foote from Kansas with a nice Kansas gobbler. Bill really needs to come and try one of our North Carolina gobblers this coming spring! Bill is "PR" Yadkin River Heidi Ho's hunting partner.
This is Jason Hayes. He's a regular here at the house and has been hunting with Jack every chance he gets. This young man really loves the young dogs. He's holding Yadkin River Timber. A nice pup off Yadkin River Blaster and Chris Leighs Yadkin Rvier Dixie female. (Not the one pictured earlier)The pup is about 2 1/2 months old in this picture. He's gonna be a hoss.
